In anticipation of the grand finale of Stranger Things, we helped Netflix bring the magic to fans in London, transforming them into Hawkins Heroes on their own final adventure. Via an interactive, engaging web app, we created a parallel world in the heart of the city for users to navigate and pick up exclusive digital collectables – and even collect real-world prizes.
Centred on London’s bustling Oxford Street in the week leading up to the finale, the experience is spread across six partner stores. Activated by QR code, the app provides fans with a map and a digital backpack, allowing them to pick up Hawkins-inspired collectables along the way, and to share them on their socials. Reflecting iconic items from the Stranger Things story, each piece was meticulously modelled in 3D in-house at Phantom. Collecting all six enters the user in the draw for Stranger Things prizes, including VIP experiences, tickets to the stage play, backstage tours and cast meet-and-greets.
To further build excitement and link the digital and physical realms, the first 250 fans to visit each store each day were given a code to redeem via a themed vending machine dispensing physical goodies like pins, badges and keychains.
