Google Visitor Experience Guide

ABOUT

Back in 2023, we supported Google’s pivotal public opening of their Mountain View campus by translating their ethos of innovation and community into an end-to-end brand identity. Now, we’ve created an enhanced digital guide that combines wayfinding with light gamification to take visitors of all ages on an even richer journey, tailored to their interests.

The experience needed to be intuitive for first-time guests, engaging for returning visitors, and scalable enough to grow with the campus for years to come. Life-sized artworks facilitated by Burning Man Project and local creators quickly became anchor points for exploration, alongside pop-up shops and thoughtfully designed communal spaces. Using users’ devices' geo-location capabilities in combination with Google’s Routes API, we were able to give directions to points of interest from anywhere on the campus — allowing visitors to start their journey whenever they wanted or even switch routes mid-journey.

As well as planning different routes around key landmarks, we added scannable QR codes to objects and signs to bring up more information and unlock a digital collectible sticker when visitors mark them as ‘discovered’. Not only does this create enrichment moments (and lots of fun for those with kids), it offers a sense of momentum and motivation to visitors as they move through their journey.

Highlights – Hundreds of visitors completed tours in the first week alone, marking a scalable, fully accessible digital experience powered by pioneering use of 3D Google Maps.
