After partnering with Diageo to launch the first-ever AI-powered whisky personalisation experience at Johnnie Walker’s Edinburgh flagship store, we’ve taken our Halo tool all over the world, and collaborated with amazing partners across the whole brand portfolio. So it felt special to be back where it all started at Princess Street with Johnnie Walker, just in time for Christmas.

Armed with learnings from our latest experiments, we took on a new challenge: simultaneously creating festive bottle design for both Johnnie Walker Black and Johnnie Walker Blue. It was important that both options felt premium, while still differentiating the offer.

For Johnnie Walker Black, an elevated everyday dram, we built a concept around the idea of a warm, inviting bar providing refuge in the winter – cold air misting the windows. We originally experimented with white ink snowflakes on the bottle glass, before realising more intricate patterns were even more visually appealing. In the end, we created timeless bauble-style patterns, frosted straight onto the glass.

For Johnnie Walker Blue, a blend for extraordinary occasions, we explored ideas around luxury. What’s more luxurious than sipping from a delicate cut-crystal glass? The delicate diamond-shaped patterns on traditional whisky tumblers are reminiscent of snowflakes, and we loved the playfulness of making the bottle look like a drinking glass.
