ABOUT

Letters of the Future was created in collaboration with Project Everyone and Google.Org and launched at the United Nations 79th General Assembly. Its main mission was to inspire delegates and other attendees by connecting them with stories of how AI-powered projects can help accelerate progress towards the 17 Global Goals by 2030.

Inspired by how perceptive young children can be, we created an experience containing fictional letters from their perspectives - focusing on the things that matter to them, like family, food, their homes and how people react to them. We trained a GPT model, so that we could generate a huge volume of iterative stories covering a range of key projects in moments.

For added authenticity, we created a bespoke font based on our young artists’ handwriting and generated drawings with AI based on their artwork, so we could adorn each letter with generated personal touches. We’re so proud of this piece of work, and the part it played in such a historic event.

Highlights – A powerful AI-driven experience that increased awareness among key decision-makers, reinforcing the role of technology in tackling global challenges and driving real-world action.

A tablet computer screen showing an introduction to the 'Letters from the Future' project. Text on a parchment-like background explains the concept of hearing from the future and how the project manifests the 17 UN Global Goals. A blue 'BACK' arrow is at the top, and a red-bordered 'EXPLORE GOALS' button is at the bottom.
Over-the-shoulder view of a person holding a smartphone. On the phone screen is a digital letter inside a pink envelope, with a 'See More Projects' button. In the background, a large, blurred display shows the same letter with a large QR code, indicating the user has just scanned it.
A screenshot of a digital form designed to look like a pink envelope. A user has entered the first name 'Eliot' and is choosing a Global Goal. The option 'Quality Education' is selected from a list that also includes 'Life below water' and 'Gender equality.' A postage stamp in the corner has an icon of a book, corresponding to the selected goal.
A vibrant collage of custom-designed postage stamps scattered on a background of pink stamp outlines. Each stamp features a unique icon and color representing one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, such as 'Gender Equality,' 'Zero Hunger,' and 'Climate Action.' The stamps also include the colorful SDG wheel and the year '2030'.
A close-up shot of a white mailbox with its door open, filled with brightly colored envelopes. The envelopes, in shades of green, red, yellow, and blue, have labels corresponding to UN Global Goals, such as 'GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING' and 'PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS.' A red flag is raised on the mailbox, and a wicker basket with more mail sits beside it.
